GRUVER, Oct. 31 (Special) - Conan Doyle Ownbey, 57, building contractor in the Gruver area, died at 4:25 a.m. today in St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo after an illness of five weeks.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Gruver Methodist Church, with the Rev. J. V. Patterson officiating.

Mr. Ownbey was born March 25, 1902, near Cheyenne, Okla. He moved to Hutchinson County with his parents in February of 1904 and attended county schools. He was graduated from West Texas College at Canyon.

He has been a building contractor here for many years.

Survivors include two brothers, Ray of Stinnett and Coy of Amarillo; three sisters, Mrs. Ralph Bort and Mrs. Claude Watkins, both of Gruver, and Mrs. Mary Smith of Amarillo.

Burial will be in the Holt Cemetery southeast of Spearman, under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.
