Funeral Services Today for James Ownbey, 72
CANADIAN--(Special)--Funeral Services for James Bly Ownbey, 72, will be held in the First Baptist Church in Canadian at 3 p.m., Sunday. Mr. Ownby (sic), who had been a resident of Canadian for the past 11 years, died in the Hemphill Memorial Hospital at 9:30 a.m. Friday following a long illness.
Rev. Hardy Childress, pastor of the Canadian Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Holt Cemetery near Spearman. Graveside services will be held there. Arrangements are being directed by Stickley Funeral Home in Canadian.
Ownbey was born Feb. 28, 1884, near Atlanta, Ga. He moved to Canadian from Hutchinson County which had been his residence for 50 years. He married Abigale (sic) Kirk, Oct. 22, 1917, and was engaged in farming and ranching.
Ownbey is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Nancy Eaker of Alton, Ill.; and one son, Robert Ownbey of Spearman; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Mr. Ownbey's nephews. Honorary pallbearers are Woodville Jarvin (sic), C. W. Kirk, Ira Harbour, Dan Terry, John P. Davidson, Drew Cantwell, Paul Bryant, George Carver, and Clay Gibbens.
