LA MARQUE - Mr. Marvin Fred Germann passed from this life Tuesday evening, November 6, 2012, in La Marque. Born September 23, 1924 in Camden, Arkansas, Mr. Germann had been a long time resident of Galveston County since 1950. He proudly served in the U. S. Army before beginning his career as an operator with Union Carbide, retiring after 35 years and he enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his two wives, Gloria L. "Terry" Germann and Mildred Germann; parents, Carl Henry and Agnes (Gilchrist) Germann; one child, William Day, Sr.; one grandchild, Kenneth Day; and brothers, Fritz Germann, Jim Germann, Jack Germann and Orville Carl Germann. Survivors include his sons, Bradford J. Phillips and wife, Karla of South Dakota, Carlton Samuel "Curly" Phillips and wife, Connie of Clear Lake; daughters, Dianna G. Odom and husband, Jimmy of Texas City, Barbara Jean Mauro and husband, Lee of The Woodlands; grandchildren, William Day, Jr., Kenneth Phillips (Mandi), Michelle Lawrence (Vincent), Mitzi Anderson, Robert Odom, Tiffany Odom, Larry Garza, Jr. (Anita), Venus Garza (Lou), Steven Sinclair (Denise), Renee Fussell (Paul), Robert Mauro (Dena) and 20 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012, at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery, 10708 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX, with Chaplain Larry Martin officiating. A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, (409) 925-3501. www.HayesFuneralHome.com Mr. Germann's family would like to express a special thanks to Laurel (Berry) House Personal Care Home and The Home Health Care Hospice for their care given.
