Funeral of Hutchinson County's Second Sheriff To Be Held Today
WHITE DEER, Dec. 30 - Funeral services for Sid J. Board, Sr., 76 year old pioneer ranchman of Hutchinson county, will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Pringle. Mr. Board died of a heart attack Thursday evening at his home in White Deer.
Born in Hickman, Ky., April 8, 1863, Mr. Board came to Hutchinson county in 1885. He was the second sheriff of Hutchinson county, succeeding the famous Indian fighter, Billy Dixon, and served in that capacity for three terms. For the past several years he has made his home in White Deer.
He was a charter member of the Masonic Lodge at Plamons [sic] and when that chapter was moved to Stinnett, retained his membership there.
On December 1, Mr. and Mrs. Board celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home here, with all their children present except one.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, Otis Board of Borger, Sid J. Board, Jr., of Morse, and Lex Board of Skellytown; four daughters, Mrs. Eunice Eiland of Long Beach, California, Mrs. Zela Matheson of White Deer; Mrs. Sally Mathis of Skellytown, and Mrs. Mary Jane Farris of Plainview.
Masonic rites will be conducted and interment will be in the Lieb cemetery near Pringle.
