Services for X L Chapman, 75, of Slaton will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 7, 2008 in Slaton's First Baptist Church with interment in Englewood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton.

Mr. Chapman was born May 19, 1932 in Knippa. He passed from this life Friday, April 4, 2008.

X L attended Sidney High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War.

He married Nelda Steele in Comanche, Texas. They moved to Slaton in 1969. X L worked for The Southern Supply Company as a sales representative.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

X L is survived by his wife, Nelda; sons, Danny and Doug; daughters, Denise Gary and Debra Estevez; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Nelda Chapman, 79, of Slaton will be 10 a.m. was born May 30, 1931 in Comanche County, Texas. She died August 2, 2010.

Nelda graduated from Comanche High School. She married X.L. Chapman on December 25, 1949. X. L. preceded her in death on April 4, 2008.

They had been residents of Slaton since 1969 and longtime members of First Baptist Church.

She was a bookkeeper and homemaker.

Nelda is survived by her sons, Danny and Doug Chapman; daughters, Denise Gary and Debra Estevez; sisters, Myrlene Fagan, Nina Jones and Peggy Mulhall; along with nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
