SPEARMAN - Ira A. Harbour, 92, died Thursday, May 8, 2008.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Medley officiating. Burial will be in Lieb Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Mr. Harbour was born Sept. 16, 1915, in Ochiltree County to Thomas and Ollie Harbour. He married Ava Loree Jackson on Jan. 13, 1939, in Amarillo. She preceded him in death in 1993. He married Ouida Wilson on Oct. 6, 1995, in Perryton.

Mr. Harbour was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the North Plains Electric Co-op board, serving as president several times since 1944. He was instrumental in obtaining electricity for the rural areas of the Texas Panhandle and made several trips to Washington, D.C., for that purpose.

He had been a member of the Soil and Water Conservation board for 58 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Spearman. He loved to fish and hunt in Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lewis Harbour; a sister, Lena; and a grandson, Ti Harbour.

Survivors include his wife, Ouida Harbour; two daughters, Marsha Ann Hindmarsh of Dolores, Colo., and Rita Jean Jones and husband Don of Winston, N.M.; two sons, Gerald Curtis Harbour and wife Kayren of Spearman and Ted Ira Harbour and wife Debra of Southlake; three stepdaughters, Valinda Dodson and husband Randy of Perryton, Velrick Wilson and Velora Matheson and husband Kim, all of Amarillo; five sisters, May Lee Smith, Avis Smith, Mary Nell Webster, Leota Giblin and Jerry Beth Johnson; two brothers, Monty Harbour and Bob Harbour; 11 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
