BORGER — Wanda Adkins, 87, of Borger died Sunday, April 8, 2012.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church in Borger with Walter Goodnight, Steve Taylor and Robert Hensley officiating. Burial will in Westlawn Memorial Cemetery at Borger. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

Wanda Lee Rawls Adkins was born Nov. 24, 1924, in Hale Center to James and Mattie King Rawls. She married Eddie Douglas Adkins on May 30, 1948, in Lubbock. Wanda was very active in her churches, First Baptist Phillips and First Baptist Borger, as WMU President, GA Leader, Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, Training Union teacher and went on mission trips with the church. She also was active in PTA, a volunteer at Golden Plains Community Hospital and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Joel Douglas Adkins; two brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Doug; a son, Gary Adkins and wife Barbara of Fritch; a daughter, Marion Kindy and husband Danny of Borger and her son, Robin Adkins and wife, Valerie of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Stacey Adkins of Lubbock, Jason Adkins of Borger, Kyle Kindy and wife Kristi of Borger, Scott Kindy and wife Nicole of Amarillo, Audrey Owens and husband Johnny of San Marcos, and Kimberly Adkins of San Marcos; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bobby Rawls and wife Glenda Kay of Lubbock; and two sisters, Dodie McCoy of Hale Center and Mozelle Austin and husband Donis of Houston.

The family suggests memorials be to Joel Douglas Adkins Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Frank Phillips College Advancement, P.O. Box 5118, Borger, TX 79008-5118 or Houston H. Adkins Scholarship Fund, Office of Advancement Dallas Baptist University, 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211-6700.
