BORGER - James Newton Akins, 78, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe of Bible Baptist Church in Borger officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Akins was born Dec. 11, 1925, in Post. He served in the Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Jannet Larson of Las Vegas; two brothers, Billy Joe Akins of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Loyd Kent Akins of Fritch; a sister, Wanda Lee of Denver; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great- granddaughters.
The family suggests memorials be to Harrington Cancer Center or Odyssey Hospice of Amarillo.
