A lifetime Borger resident died Monday.

Funeral services for Dr. John Barney Andress, 56, will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Sheppard, pastor of Faith Covenant Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Dr. Andress was born July 14, 1936 in Borger. He graduated from Borger High School in 1954, graduated from Baylor University in Waco with a bachelor of science, and Baylor University College of Denistry, Doctor of Dental Surgery.

He was a member of American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Hutchinson County Dental Society, and Panhandle District Dental Help Society.

Dr. Andress was on the staff at Golden Plains Community Hospital, member of Rotary and a past president, past member of the Borger Independent School District Board of Education, Paul Harris Fellow, Child Welfare Board, and past president of American Cancer Society, and Hutchinson County Chairman Cancer Crusade.

Dr. Andress was on the Citizens Advisory Panel at Phillips Petroleum Company, he was a member of Faith Covenant Church and a past elder, and former youth sponsor and Sunday schol teacher.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Byron "Barney" Andress in 1971.

Survivors include his wife, Pat of the home; three sons, John Byron Andress, III; and Dana Troy Andress, both of Memphis, Tenn.; and Paul David Andress of Jackson, Miss.; his mother, Evelyn Andress of Borger; and a sister, Cathie Kimbell of Amarillo.

The family requests memorials be made to St. Ann's Nursing Home, Box 1179, Panhandle, Texas 79068, or a favorite charity.
