*Obituary for Aubrey
Funeral services for Aubrey William Attaway, 68, of 609 Monroe, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Simpsons Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jack Ellzey, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Phillips, officiating.

Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Simpsons Funeral Home.

Attaway died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Groom Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 24, 1907 in Bloomer, Ark.

He came here from Mulberry, Ark., in 1926 as a pioneer resident and worked for Phillips Petroleum Co. until 1946.

He owned and operated Borger Grocery until his retirement in 1948.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Phillips.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene of the home; one son, Gary of Houston; two brothers, Elizie D. of Fort Smith, Ark., and Lindel of Mulberry, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Painter of Charlotte, N.C., and Mrs. Wanda Lackie of Oklahoma City; and three grandchildren.

A Stinnett couple was killed in a traffic accident about 2 p.m. Friday in Pearsall, Tex.

Reports indicate the couple's car collided with a tractor-trailer.

Killed were Lorene Attaway Mahan, 68, and Ed M. Mahan, of 220 Farmer St., Stinnett.

Services for Mrs. Mahan will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Phillips Methodist Church. The Rev. Jack Elzey, pastor, will officiate.

Burial for Mrs. Mahan will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Alexander-Simpson Funeral Directors.

A native of Winters, Tex., she was born Jan. 4, 1911. She married Ed Mahan in February of 1978. She and her former husband, Ark Attaway, owned and operated Borger Grocery from 1946 until 1968.

Mrs. Mahan is survived by one son, Gary Attaway of Katy, Tex.; one stepson, Darrell Mahan of Kingsville; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Charlotte Murphey of Alice, Tex.; two brothers, Glenn Yoachum of Stinnett and Harvey Yoachum of Fritch; one sister, Mrs. Jewel Lewis of Tuscola; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bob Neely, Bill Spears, Bill May, A.G. Sherwood, Turney Jameson and Fred Reed.

Simultaneous services for Mr. Mahan will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Turcotte Mortuary in Kingsville. Burial will be in Chamberlain Cemetery in Kingsville.
