BORGER - R.L. Austin, 68, died Monday, June 7, 1999.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Westlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Gillmore, pastor of Riverview Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Austin was born in Beckham County, Okla., and had lived in Borger for 31 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II stationed in Japan. He also served in the Korean War. He was a production manager for Cominco, retiring in 1984. He also worked at Phillips Petroleum at Cactus and Beatrice, Neb., for 13 years.

He married Beverly Nickle in 1950 at Kingfisher, Okla. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Micheal Austin, in 1995.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Patti Wagner of El Reno, Okla., and Janet Gao of Wichita, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

The family requests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center, Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176; or the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, Tx 79109.
