KERRVILLE - Jack Edward Beaird, 63, formerly of Borger, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church in Borger by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

Jack was born Dec. 7, 1945, in Baytown to Loys Franklin Beaird and Juanita Taylor Beaird, joining sister Elizabeth, and to be later joined by sister Loy. While at Central Baptist Church in Baytown, he met church nursery co-toddler and future wife, LaNell Gorden, and at the age of 7, accepted Christ as his savior. Jack and LaNell were married on Sept. 1, 1967, in Baytown. He graduated from Lamar Tech in Beaumont with a B.S. in mechanical engineering and moved to Shamrock to take his first job as a mechanical engineer at a carbon black processing plant of Ashland Chemical Co. While in Shamrock, Jack joined the Army National Guard and celebrated with LaNell the births of sons Jeff Wayne and James Dean.

In 1973, the family moved to Borger to take a different job, whereupon they welcomed a third son, Joel Edward. They were active in church and community life both in Borger and in Baton Rouge, La., where the family moved in 1982, for another job in the same industry. In 1992, the Sid Richardson company transferred Jack back to Borger. Due to failing health, Jack left his job in 2000, and he and LaNell moved to Kerrville.

Jack's family members remember him as an energetic lover of life and of his Savior, Jesus. He was a gentle clown who kept everyone laughing, even at his own expense. Jack loved his family, fellowship with friends, good food, and the ministry of hospitality - welcoming the needy into his home.

During the last years of his life, praying for grandchildren became a focus of his days.

He will be missed by everyone who loved him, even as his homegoing is rejoiced by all the company of heaven.

He was preceded in death by his father, Loys Franklin Beaird; his mother, Juanita Taylor Beaird; and a granddaughter, Emilie Rose.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, LaNell Gorden Beaird; three sons, Jeff Beaird and wife Margaret of West Chicago, Ill., James Beaird and wife Susan of Nara Faminsk, Russia, and Joel Beaird and wife Marla of Edmond, Okla.; 11 grandchildren including Jacob, Seth, AnnaBelle and Pearla (of Jeff and Margaret), Rachel, David, Caleb and Johanna (of James and Susan), Brianna, Alainna and Joanna (of Joel and Marla); two sisters, Elizabeth Nall and Loy Beaird, both of Kerrville; and two nephews, Karl Koepke of Dallas and Kris Koepke of Kerrville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Russia Ministry, in care of First Baptist Church, 100 S. Hedgecoke, Borger, TX 79007.
