BORGER - Carl Gene Bennett, 71, died Sunday, March 19, 2000 in Del Norte, Colo.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church with the Rev. John Gran, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Bennett was born and raised in Hutchinson, Kan. He attended Kansas State University and was an officer in the Korean War. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Borger Country Club.

In 1969 Mr. Bennett was co-owner of Bennett & Carder. He bought Tri State Co. in 1975, then bought Amarillo Aircraft in 1980. He served on the Hutchinson County Volunteer Board and volunteered for the Hope Extravaganza.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Bennett; a son, Mark Bennett of Houston; two daughters, Kristie Eason of Amarillo and Laurie Whatley of Fritch; a stepdaughter, Sharon Cross of Amarillo; and four grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to American Heart Association, 2404 W. Seventh Ave., Amarillo, TX 79106.
