November 1861, Georgia - November 1906, Cameron, Milam County, Texas
Last Friday W. J. Harriss died in Cameron and the body was brought to Rockdale where it was buried in the old City Cemetery. He was convicted at the last term of the district court for the killing of W. S. Poole and was sentenced to 22 years in the penitentiary. His attorneys appealed the case to the court of criminal appeals and he remained in jail awaiting the decision of that court. At the time of his death his case had not been acted upon by the court of appeals. He leaves a widow and several children.
