Roy E. Buchanan, 76, of Fritch died Saturday August 17th in Fritch. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Cremation and burial will be under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.
Roy was born January 30, 1937 in Carnegie, OK to Wilton and Etta Cotter Buchanan. He came to Fritch in 1971 from Oklahoma. He married Wanda Watson January 20, 1972 in Las Vegas, NV. He owned and operated Buchanan Backhoe. His family was his pride and joy. He loved to visit with all people. He enjoyed having coffee with friends, gambling, old cars, garage sales and being a part of Relay for Life.
He is survived by his wife of the home, daughter, Kristi Nixon and husband Everett of Borger, son Cody and wife Amber of Fritch; numerous nieces and nephews; grandchildren Shelbie Buchanan, Christian Buchanan, Rylee Buchanan, Alex Nixon and Sydnie Nixon; great grandchildren Hadlie Buchanan and Tristen Buchanan; father-in-law J.C. Watson of Sanford; brother-in laws Don Watson and wife Beth of Sanford, Ken Watson of Sanford; sister-in-law Linda Gould of Richmond, TX.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Cancer Society in memory of Roy Buchanan, 3915 Bell, Amarillo, TX 79109.
