*Obituary for Raymond
AMARILLO-Raymond R. Bybee, 83, died Friday, Aug. 6, 1993 in Amarillo.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Martin Road Chapel of Schooler-Gordon-Blackburn-Shaw with the Rev. Richard Higley, of Southeast Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Borger.

Mr. Bybee was born July 31, 1910 in Wichita Falls. In 1941, he moved to Amarillo and was employed as an engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad.

During World War II, he served on the police force at the Pantex Plant where he won marksmanship honors.

He moved to Borger in 1948 and owned and operated Bybee and Sons Furniture, retiring in 1966. He moved back to Amarillo and operated Larry's Auto Salvage Company until 1984.

While in Borger, he was a member of the Hutchinson County Sheriff's Posse, and sponsored local amateur and semi-pro sports teams. He played semi-pro baseball and was a professional prizefighter.

He married Faye Alice Hawkins in 1928 in Morton. She died in 1985.

Survivors include two sons, Russell Bybee of Mount Pleasant; and Dr. Cleburne Bybee of Dallas; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be made to St. Anthony's Hospice in Amarillo, Box 950, Amarillo, 79176.
