SNYDER - Robert Cardwell Jr., 88, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Brown Funeral Directors Chapel of the Fountains in Borger. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Cemetery in Borger. Memorial services will follow regular church services in Northside Baptist Church in Snyder.

Mr. Cardwell was born June 17, 1922, in Colorado City to Robert L. and Ala B. Gehring Cardwell Sr. He served in the U.S. Army during the Battle of Normandy and World War II, receiving five Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, a Purple Heart and the WWII Victory Medal. He was a very independent man, devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include a son, Bobby Joe Cardwell of Amarillo; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Dot Stokes.
