Eugene "Gene" Marion Carrick
August 16, 1918 - November 27, 2014

Eugene Marion Carrick, 96, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014.

Funeral service will be held 2 pm Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Wesley United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Gene was born August 16, 1918 in Childress, Texas to William and Pearl Carrick. He married Euba Fae Hillis on March 17, 1951. That same year he also moved to Borger and worked for the Phillips Copolymer Plant and retired in 1983.

Mr. Carrick proudly served in the United States Army as a sergeant in the G Troup 12th Calvary from February 13, 1941 thru September 28, 1945. He served as a mortar non-commissioned officer supervising a light mortar crew of five men, directing the loading and transporting of the weapon. Battles and campaigns include Luzon, New Guinea, Bismarck Archipelago, and Southern Philippines. He received good conduct medal GO #13 HQ 12th Cav 45, Distinguished Unit Badge GO #45 WD 45, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and Philippine Liberator Ribbon.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Euba Fae Carrick; his parents; granddaughter, Nikki Aubrey; sister, Johnnye Richardson; brothers, Cecil Carrick, Otto Carrick, and Leslie Carrick.

Survivors include his daughters, Annetta Aubrey and husband, Allen of Amelia, Ohio, Marian Jones and husband Lonnie of Fritch; brother, Shellie Carrick and wife Laura of Fritch; seven grandchildren, Todd Hutton, Traci Sharp, Jeff Aubrey, Jason Aubrey, Doug Jones, Adam Aubrey, Kyle Jones; fifteen great grandchildren, Tim Hutton, Jennifer Reed, Taylor Hutton, Hutton Sharp, Rylee Sharp, Aden Sharp, Maggie Sharp, Davis Jones, Vivie Jones, Stella Aubrey, Andrew Aubrey, Caleb Wolf, Ava Aubrey, Peyton Aubrey, Alex Harker; and two great great grandchildren, Ellie Reed and Blake Reed.

BORGER - Euba Fae Carrick, 79, died Thursday, April 13, 2000.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. David Floyd-Harp, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in The Garden of Devotion at Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Carrick was born in Hall County and had lived in Borger for 49 years. She graduated from Memphis High School in 1938 and from West Texas State College in 1942. She taught home economics. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

She married Eugene Marion Carrick in 1951.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Annetta Aubrey of Cincinnati and Marian Jones of Borger; three brothers, Edward Hillis of Rupert, Idaho, Tommie Hillis of Virginia and Don Hillis of Clarendon; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Wesley United Methodist Church, 1202 Valley Drive, Borger, TX 79007; or, Crown of Texas Hospice, 1000 S. Jefferson St., Amarillo, TX 79101.
