Joan Alice Urch Huse was born on April 1, 1934 in Pottsville Pennsylvania to Elwood and Alice Urch.

She attended Wheaton College and then John Hopkins University School of Nursing where She received her RN license. She also worked with Wycliffe Bible Translators. She married James Huse and his 6 girls on June 8,1968 in Pottsville PA. James and Joan served on the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation until 1991. They were Foster parents to over 200 Foster children while in Mescalero. They then moved to Sanger TX to serve as pastor of the Pilgrim Ways Baptist Church. She worked at Denton Rehabilitation Center until retiring in 1999.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elwood and Alice Urch, a brother James and 1 grandchild. She is survived by her husband James, her daughters Jonalis Wall, Marilyn and Kerry Mykel, Jeanie and Gary Yates, Shirley Huse, Linda and Charles McGinnis, Carol and David Couch, Judy Huse, Cynthia Huse, Ellen and David Johnson, Marie Kayitah, and Arvin Yahnahki. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Sanger with Pastor Walt Gruenwald officiating.
