Elene Chisum
August 3, 1927 - March 8, 2016
Elene Chisum was born August 3, 1927, in Pampa, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father Charles Termin and mother Flossie Termin as well as three brothers and her husband of 67 years was William Herbert Chisum. Her sister Lorene Holmes resides in Covington, Louisana. Her daughter Jerri Phillips resides in Lubbock, Texas, and daughter Nikki Jinkins resides in Wimberly, Texas. Her four grandchildren are Heather married to Billy Medley in Shallowater, Tx., Curtis Jinkins and wife Toni in Wimberley, Tx., Heidi and husband Greg Bennett in Round Rock, Tx., Cody Jinkins and wife Randi in San Antonio, Tx. She has eleven great grandchildren: Clayton, Preston, Addison, and Trenton Medley, Jasper and Truman Jinkins, Lillian, Rosalee and Laurelai Bennett and Skylar and Riley Jinkins.
When her daughters both started school, Mrs. Chisum began college at Frank Phillips Junior College and went on to West Texas College to obtain her Masters in Education. She taught 25 years; first grade at Buenavista Elementary and then speech, English and drama at Stephen F. Austin Junior High. She also taught Zig Ziglar's I Can course. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Borger, and an active member of Altrusa. She loved crossword puzzles, playing bridge, and reading. A gifted knitter, she made Christmas stockings, three piece outfits, prayer shawls, and afghans by hand or on her knitting machines. Mrs. Chisum loved to travel and went around the world twice. Mr. and Mrs. Chisum visited all 50 states prior to his death in November 2012.
A Memorial graveside service will be held at Noon, Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Westlawn Cemetery, Borger.
