BORGER - Howard Goodwyne Courtney Sr., 69, died Wednesday at St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo.

Prayer services will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Simpson Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be read at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church with the Rev. Richard Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Simpson Funeral Home.

Born in Grand Cane, La., Mr. Courtney came to Borger in 1938 from Louisiana. He was associated with J.M. Huber Corp. 42 years.

Surviving are the widow, Ruth; two sons, Howard Jr. of Borger and Gene Ray of Arlington; a daughter, Mrs. Kathy Millard of LeJeune, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Tinnin of Grand Cane, and Mrs. Jean Wilcox of Waco; and eight grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be to the Catholic Children's Home in Panhandle.

Funeral mass for Ruth Louise Courtney, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John's Catholic Church with Monsignor Norbert Kuehler and Father David Contreras, officiating.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Minton Memorial Chapel with Father David Contreras officiating.

Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mrs. Courtney died Monday, March 14, 1994 in Swansboro, N.C.

She was a native of Oakdale, Pa., and was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Millard of Swansboro, N.C.; a son, Gene Ray Courtney of Arlington; a brother, Gene Little of Texas; three sisters, Margaret Miller of DeSoto; Bert Knox of El Paso; and Cass Stevenson of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tim Millard, Mack Millard, Mark Millard, Mike Millard, John Payne, Leonard Schwind, Jim Stark, and John Stark.

The family requests memorial be made to Carteret Hospice, Inc., Box 3598, Moorehead City, N.C. 28557.
