BORGER - Evelyn Lorraine Downey, 87, died Saturday, July 29, 2006.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Jerry R. Lane, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Downey was born Jan. 21, 1919, in Broken Arrow, Okla., and had been a Borger resident since 1972. She was a clerk at McClellans for three years and had worked for Boeing in Wichita, Kan., during World War II.

She married Woodrow Mack Downey on Oct. 6, 1941, in Sapulpa, Okla., and he preceded her in death on March 26, 1997.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, William and Alma Martin; four brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons, John Downey and wife Susie of Houston and Jim Downey and wife Becky of Pampa; a daughter, Janice Ann Stanford and husband Johnny of Fritch; seven grandchildren, including Jeff Stanford of Fritch and Heather Odgen of Phoenix; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.The family suggests memorials be to the American Heart Association.
