Ernest H. Dunning, 42, a prominent Borger attorney, died at 7:05 p.m. Friday at North Plains Hospital after what was apparently a sudden heart attack.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Monday at the First Methodist Church here, with Dr. Hubert Thomson, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ed Brown & Sons.
Born Oct. 20, 1925, in Claiborne, Miss., he was a former resident of Port Arthur. He attended Rice Institute, Texas Christian University and the University of Texas. For one year, he practiced law in Austin before coming to Borger in 1951 as an attorney for J.M. Huber Corp.
He joined Bob Gallaway in a law partnership in 1958 and was a member of the First Methodist Church, Isom Masonic Lodge, A.F. and A.M. He was also a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant. His home was at 404 Broadmoor here.
Dunning was also a steward of the Methodist Church, past chairman of the Hutchinson County Red Cross Association, and a member of the Adobe Walls Council of the Boy Scouts.
Survivors include his wife, Ardath, son, Paul, and daughters, Leslie and Amy, all of the home; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Dunning of Burnet, Tex.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be directed to the Boy Scouts and to the J.W. Dillard Library at Frank Phillips College.
Casketbearers will be Robert G. Gallaway, Frank J. Smith, David A. Robins, Howard K. Phillips, Louis Seliger, Dick Anderson, Charles E. Cooke, Jr. and Al Hahn.
Honorary casketbearers are members of the Borger Bar Association and members of the Frank Phillips College Board of Regents.
