Campbell, David William "Bee" David William "Bee" Campbell, 93, passed away September 30, 2009 in Dallas. He was born in Dustin, OK, on April 13, 1916 to Arch and Emma Campbell. He attended school in Ft. Worth and went to The University of Texas where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi. Bee spent 14 years with American Airlines before pursuing other interests. He was a longtime Dallas businessman active in the life insurance business for over 50 years. He was a General Agent for Minnesota Life for 45 years, Chartered Life Underwriter and a member of the Million Dollar Round Table for 37 years. In the 1980s he was active in the banking business having organized and obtained charters for 8 banks; Gateway National Bank, Signature Place Bank and Cornerstone National Bank, to name a few. He was especially proud of the bank he organized in the Micronesian Islands. In addition, he opened the first Church's Fried Chicken franchise in Honolulu, Hawaii where he enjoyed many trips with his family. Working and serving in leadership positions in several civic organizations his primary focus was Hope Cottage Adoption Center where he and his wife adopted 4 children. There he gave his time and effort for over 50 years serving as President of the Hope Cottage Board of Directors and President of the Hope Cottage Foundation. He was a lifelong member of Highland Park United Methodist Church where he held several volunteer positions. He was an avid golfer and former member of Northwood Country Club, Preston Trail Golf Club, Shady Oaks Country Club in Ft. Worth and Pecan Plantation in Granbury, TX. He also enjoyed the many weekends spent on his boat "Top Cat" with his family and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 69 years, Agnes Campbell. Survived by sons D. William "Bill" Campbell, Jr. (Colleen) of Ft. Worth, Richard H. Campbell, daughters Tina Potter (John), Cathy Campbell, Pat Thorogood (Bill) and brother David C. Campbell (Verlyn), 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Visitation will be at Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home, October 2, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Services to be held at Sparkman-Hillcrest Chapel on October 3, at 2:00 p.m. with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bill Campbell, Richard Campbell, John P. Potter, Steven Campbell, John D. Potter and Michael Potter. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hope Cottage Adoption Center, 4209 McKinney Ave., Dallas, TX, 75205.
