*Obituary;

Annelle Reed Burton, our loving Mother went home to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ on Friday, May 8th, 2020. Mom passed after a 3-week illness that she fought so hard to beat! She was born on May 24, 1933, to Dr. Robert A. Reed and Helen Barker Reed in Dallas, Texas, where she lived most of her life. While a toddler, she lived in Henderson, Texas, several years until the family moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, while her father was serving in churches as a pastor. At age 7 her family returned to Dallas when her father was called as the Pastor of Park Cities Baptist Church. At the age of 14 she met John Burton at First Baptist Church and they became lifelong sweethearts. In the summer of 1953, Annelle graduated from Baylor University and in August that year, she and John were married. Soon John was called to active duty in the Air Force and they returned to Dallas after 2 years of duty. Annelle worked for the Annuity Board of the Southern Baptist Convention for 5 years and after the birth of her first child she stayed home with their 3 children. She was actively involved in their church and school activities, as well as activities at their church, Wilshire Baptist Church. Her greatest pleasures were being with her family and friends, gardening and enjoying their home. Annelle is survived by her son, John Reed Burton, daughters Sally Ann Burton and Susan Carol Burton, and granddaughter Audrey Helen Beattie, her sister Carolyn Reed Wicker. Annelle’s husband, the love of her life, John M. Burton, went home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2017.
