LEE ROY EAKEN
Last Friday evening about 4:30 0'clock the people of this community were shocked and grieved to learn that the Death Angel had visited H. O. Eaken's home, taking from it a kind, loving son, Lee Roy. His suffering was for only a short time, and death was a slumber. It was a shock to friends as well as relatives. Everything that physicians and loving hands could do was done to save him, but to no avail. God knew best, and Lee Roy passed away at 4:30 o'clock Friday evening. He had lived a life of which he was not afraid to die and he met death with a kind smile. He was born May 21st, 1899. His age at death was 27. He died the 11th of March and was buried on the 12th day of March, 1927. All the family was with him. Lee Roy was a Christian, always ready to give a helping hand to those in need. He always met each and every one with a kind smile. For some time Roy's health had been failing, but no one dreamed the end should be so soon. But death is sure life is uncertain. He has answered the call we must all hear some day. We know not when it shall come. We realize it is hard to give up so pure and good loved ones, but, friends, you have a consolation - he i beyond this world's suffering and we are sure if he could call to you today his message would be, "Grieve not, my loved ones. I an at rest." I know he has many friends who will be grieved to learn of his death.
Lee Roy left a broken hearted mother and father, one sister, and two brothers: Mrs. Mae Cast, Richard Eaken and Roland Eaken. Three children are dead and three are still living in the family.
Lee Roy was laid to rest in the Harmony Cemetery Saturday afternoon. A large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives accompanied the body to its last resting place, where many heavy hearts were made lighter by the consoling word spoken at the grave. Yet we are sad, for there is one gone. We realize no one can take his place, neither in the home nor the hearts of those who live him dearly.
