Anna Louise Fike, 79, died Sunday, May 31, 2015.

Graveside services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015 in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Miss Fike was born March 28, 1936, in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. She moved to Borger, Texas in 1947 and attended schools at Westward and Borger High School. In 1951 she moved to Sunset Heights, Phillips, Tx and graduated from Phillips High School in 1953.

On April 19, 1954, she joined the U.S. Navy and served honorably for four years. Her duty stations included Boot Camp at Bainbridge, Maryland, Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md., and Treasure Island, San Francisco, California. She served four years in communications with the rating of Teleman 3rd Class Petty Officer and on April 18, 1958, received her honorable discharge. She received the Good Conduct and the National Defense medals. In 2001, she received a Certificate of Recognition from William Cohen, Secretary of Defense, for service during the Cold War. She was a Charter Member of @Women in Military Service for America" and a lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 671 in Borger, Texas.

She attended Auburn Community College in Auburn, New York and Frank Phillips Junior College in Borger, Texas. She attended the Auburn School of Nursing for one year then moved to Syracuse where she worked as an operating room technician at the University Hospital of The Good Shepherd affiliated with the University of Syracuse, New York.

She traveled to Germany where she worked at various U.S. Government jobs in Nuremberg and Heidelberg. She traveled extensively in Europe: Germany, Italy, Greece, Austria, Switzerland and Yugoslavia.

She was a retired production technician from Pantex Plant in Amarillo.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carroll E. Fike and Esther K. (Gocha) Fike; a brother, Robert G. Fike; a nephew, Timothy Carroll Ashton; and a niece, Loretta Kay Mayberry.

She is survived by her sisters, Beatrice R. (Fike) Volrath of Brimley, Mich., and Caroline M. (Fike) Ashton Ware of Borger, Tx; a brother, Leslie O. Fike and wife Debra (May) Fike of Eufaula, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Saint Jude's, Hospice Home Care, Alzheimer's Association or a Heart Association.
