Cody Fondren, 82, died Tuesday, October 7, 1997, in his home in Borger.

Funeral services are pending with Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Fondren had been a Borger resident since 1946. He was Superintendent of Schools for Phillips Independent School District and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Phillip's Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beulah Wilcox Fondren in 1959 and his second wife, Jean Crawford Fondren, in 1994.

Survivors include a son, Joel Fondren of Borger; a daughter, Rosie Hugley of Laguna Beach, Calif.; a brother, Thomas Fondren of Springfield, Ore.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
