FISHER, Howard B. Born September 7, 1925 - Died May 18, 2018 at 92 years of prostate cancer. Howard grew up in El Paso and Amarillo, where he graduated from high school at age 16. He then entered Northwestern University, Chicago. After 2 years at university he entered active duty in the US Army in WWII. After war ended, he completed his studies. Howard devoted his working life to radio, advertising, film and video. He voiced countless commercials, films and videos, and his was the first voice on Dallas TV, welcoming viewers to WFAA TV at the beginning of his career. He was Broadcast VP at Tracy-Locke Advertising for 10 years. For 20 years before retiring in 1990, he ran his own Creative Services company, writing and producing all forms of broadcast media. His work, which he always considered more fun than work, won many advertising, broadcasting and film honors. A self-proclaimed curmudgeon, he enjoyed being a mentor, and people either loved or tolerated his sense of humor and relentless perfectionism. A founder, past president and board member, Association of Broadcasting Executives of Texas (ABET). Founding member of Dallas Producers Association, from which he received its coveted Pioneer Award. Served on boards of Dallas Advertising League, SAG/ AFTRA, and North Texas Taping and Radio for the Blind. Survived by wife, Glenna, son Tim Fisher and wife, Jackie of Carrollton, daughter, Lisa Carroll and husband, Peter of Lightning Ridge Australia, granddaughter Lea and husband JD Miller of Dallas, step daughter Kelly Tinkler and husband Gary Givens and beloved rescue dog Barney. At Howard's request, memorial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
