FERGUSON, , ELISE LIPSCOMB Elise Lipscomb Ferguson passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 11, 2007. Elise was born May 5, 1926 in Dallas, Texas to Marian Coulson Lipscomb and Matthew Gardner Lipscomb, Sr. She was a graduate of Highland Park High School as well as Southern Methodist University earning her Bachelor of Arts in English in 1946. Throughout her years at SMU, she was a devoted member of the Beta Sigma Order of Kappa Alpha Theta. During this time Elise was involved with the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital where she served as an avid volunteer for twenty plus years. Elise was a gifted artist and designer, as several of her clothing designs were shown at the "School of Design" during the New York City Market. She was a fashion illustrator for Neiman Marcus with many of her illustrations appearing in print. Her dedication and unending enthusiasm for her alumnae fraternity was noted in 1964 as she was honored as Theta of the Year. Her other volunteer work included countless hours of service with the Dallas Society for Crippled Children. Elise married the love of her life Larry Ford Ferguson in 1947. She and Larry and their children enjoyed traveling extensively as they made many memorable trips to Aspen, Colorado, the Florida Keys and Switzerland. Elise was an active member of the Dallas Garden Club, Dallas Women's Club, Lide Spragins Book Club and the DAR. She was a charter member of the Highland Park Presbyterian Church. Elise is survived by her husband, Larry Ford Ferguson, daughter and son-in-law Lisa Ferguson Arrieta and Humberto Arrieta, son Larry Ford Ferguson, III, daughter and son-in-law Kathryn Ferguson Theis and Sid Theis, her grandchildren Edward Humberto Arrieta, Andrew Ford Arrieta, Ann Elise Arrieta, Larry Ford Ferguson IV, Daniel Neil Ferguson, Spencer William Theis, Marshall Ferguson Theis, her brother Matthew Gardner Lipscomb, Jr., nieces Linda Lipscomb, Nancy Lipscomb Vanderbilt, Elizabeth Lipscomb Coffee, great nieces, Dottie Bond, Carrie Coffee and Mary Gardner Coffee. Elise will be greatly missed by all who knew her, including her life-long friends in Sewing Club, as well as her devoted caretaker and friend of 43 years, Dollie Smith. A memorial service will be held in the sanctuary of Highland Park Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2007.
