CHAMBLESS, FRANK MARION A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away after a brief illness on May 21, 2008, with his family by his side in Dallas. Frank was born October 11, 1920, in Montgomery, Texas to Nathaniel and Ruby Chambless . He served in the US Navy during World War II and attended Texas A&M prior to the war where he was studying to become a veterinarian. After the war he worked for Ideal Cement Company for almost 40 years and then the Houston ISD. Frank was a longtime member of Park Place Baptist Church in Houston where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed people, ballroom dancing with his wife, Bettye, the outdoors, animals, especially horses. After retirement he enjoyed working in his yard, often winning yard of the month. He was best known as a great Bible teacher and caregiver. He impacted many lives and will be missed by all who knew him. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Bettye Chambless ; children, Dr. Connie J. Smith & husband Guy of Dallas, Kent Chambless & wife Kelly of Austin; grandchildren, Cable, Jansen, Kendal & Christopher Smith, Tess & John Chambless; one great-grandson, Billy; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Donald & Carolyn VanMeter; brother-in-law, Joe Simpson; nephew Dr. Tom Tiller & wife Gladys & their families. Visitation will be held from 3pm-5pm, Sunday, May 25, 2008, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00a.m., Monday, May 26, 2008, at Wilshire Baptist Church on Abrams Rd. in Dallas. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
