SISSOM, JOHN EVERETT John E. Sissom, 84, died Sun., April 13th at Boulder Manor Health Care, Boulder, CO. John was born March 4, 1924 to John & Mable (Ford) Sissom in Portales, NM. He attended Amarillo High School and Jr. College where he received his Associates degree. He married Estelle Moody in Hillsboro, TX. She preceded him in death in 1999. He was best known as Curator of the John F. Kennedy Museum in Dallas, TX. He co-produced "The Incredible Hours" presentation at the Museum, inventing many novel multimedia techniques. John was a lifelong entertainer: employed as a professional magician by Amarillo Power & Light and later running the Novelette joke and novelty shop in Amarillo. While at the Novelette, John hosted a TV talent show, and had a regular newspaper column on entertaining and hosting parties. He was very resourceful and enjoyed discussing all of the odd jobs he had held, including: rigger for the circus, aerial gunnery instructor, stage manager, seller of hot roasted peanuts and cotton candy and owner of service stations, gift shops and vending machines. He was a Founding Member of Texas Association of Magicians, member of Society of American Magicians, International Brotherhood of Magicians, and the Masonic Lodge. He served in the U.S. Naval Air Corp from 1943-46. John was, foremost, a kind and loving man who will be deeply missed by his friends and family. John and his wife of 38 years, Estelle, cherished and adored one another. He was also innovative and loved professional collaboration. Sharing a laugh or an idea brought him great pleasure. He loved to entertain and would often clown around to make people laugh, but was helpful, loyal, and sincere to everyone. Survivors include one son, Bradley (Nancy) Sissom of Boulder, CO; two grandchildren, Mathew and Grace. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Tues. April 22nd at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home Chapel, Dallas, TX with Rev. Katelin Warren of the United Church of Christ officiating.
