JOHNSON, Margaret Ann Margaret Ann Johnson was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 14, 1945 and died on March 11, 2017 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 71. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Houston Johnson and Abbie Rhodes Johnson as well as her friend of many years, Judy Carder. Margaret grew up in Dallas graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas and her Master's degree from East Texas State University. Margaret was a teacher in the Dallas Independent School District for 40 years. She taught at F.P. Caillet and Harry C. Withers Elementary Schools. She also worked in both the Hospital-Homebound and the Talented and Gifted programs. After her retirement, Margaret served as a substitute teacher for a short period of time. Margaret loved to travel, collect and try new recipes, and needlepoint. Margaret was very sensitive to the needs of others and was generous in her actions. She is survived by her brother, Roy Johnson of Dallas. She will be missed by longtime friends Janis Britt, Judy Anderson, Harrian Stern, Carol Gutherie, Dale Hartman, Mary Gaertner, Linda Tokoly, and Dorothy Hart. She will also be missed and remembered fondly by the residents and staff of the Acadia Assisted Living Community where she resided for the past year. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 23 at 2:00 pm at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home. A reception in the community room will immediately follow the service. Please make memorial donations to the Genesis Women's Shelter.
