BORGER — Barbara Skaggs Haning, 88, died Saturday, April 19, 2014.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church of Borger with Les Sharp, pastor of Faith Covenant Church, officiating. Private family graveside services will be in Westlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Barbara was born Oct. 27, 1925, in Panhandle to Lonnie and Anna Rorex Skaggs. She worked for O'Neal Abstract until the fall of 1943. Her brother-in-law, Les Adair, told her about a job opening in the office of Phillips Petroleum Co. She applied for the job and was hired. She moved to the women's dormitory after her sister's family moved to Odessa. She was a billing clerk at the loading rack with Phillips. It was while working there, she met James Haning.

She married the love of her life on March 3, 1945. Barbara and James started Haning Dozer Service, which they operated from 1979 until 2009. She was involved in many church activities at First Baptist Church, including Women's Missionary Union.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, on April 8, 2014; two grandchildren, Shawn Rogers and Jamie Rexann Prewit; two sisters; two brothers; and her parents.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Haning and wife Nancy and Mike Haning and wife Liz, all of Amarillo; two daughters, Shirley Anderson and husband Gary of Amarillo; and Suellen Dammann and husband Jim of Midland; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to A Time To Share, P.O. Box 50005, Amarillo, TX 79159; or A Circle of Friends, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
