*Obituary for Duward
Duward V. Hayter, 68, 1307 Davis, died at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday in Conway County Hospital in Morrilton, Arkansas.

A retired programmer at Philtex, he was a native of Tillman County, Oklahoma, and a Borger resident for 37 years.

He was a veteran of the Navy in WWII and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, worked 25 years with the Boy Scouts of America, Junior High Methodist Youth.

He married the former Wilma Hawkins on November 25, 1947 in Norman, Okla.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma of the home; one daughters, Jean Tucker of Vernon; one son, John V. Hayter of Nacogdoches; three brothers, Delmar Hayter of Lubbock, Dale Hayter of San Angelo, Donald Hayter of Lewiston, Idaho; five grandchildren.

Services are pending with Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.

VERNON - Wilma Hayter, 82, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, in Wichita Falls.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Methodist Church of Borger with Dr. David Jones, former pastor, officiating. Interment was in the "Garden of Devotion" at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mrs. Hayter was born on April 14, 1918, in Carnagie, Okla. She was a former long time resident of Borger and moved to Vernon in 1995. She married Duward Hayter on Nov. 25, 1947, in Norman, Okla. She was a registered dietician with Highland General Hospital, Coronado Hospital and North Plains Hospital in Borger. She was a member of the Parent Teachers Association, Association of American University Women, American Dietician Association and the United Methodist Woman. She was also a Girl Scout leader.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duward, on April 6, 1988, and by three brothers, Dale Hawkins, Harold Hawkins and Frank Hawkins.

Survivors include one daughter, Jeanne Tucker of Vernon; one son, John Hayter of Nacogdoches; two sisters, Thelma Segnar and Marie Galloway Van Schuyver, both of Tahlequah, Okla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Golden Wings Hospice, Box 622, Vernon, Texas 76384 or to the First United Methodist Church of Borger.

Casket bearers were Bill Griffin, John McLain, Martin Nash, Charles Cooke, Richard Terry and Bill Smith.
