Obituary for Richard
FRITCH - Richard "Dick" Harry Hendrickson, 83, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fairlanes Baptist Church. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.

Mr. Hendrickson passed away Thursday, Nov. 3 at SCCI Hospital in Amarillo after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Hendrickson was born March 18, 1922, in Tulsa, Okla., and was a resident of Phillips for 38 years and a resident of Fritch for 19 years. He worked for Phillips Petroleum for 38 years at the Philtex Plant. He married Glenna June Blackburn on May 27, 1946, in Cherryvale, Kan.

Richard was well-known as a songwriter, composer, guitarist and musician. When he was 13, his mother bought him a Carson J. Robison guitar which he learned to play. By the time he was 16, he became a member of "The Melodiers Band" performing in Oklahoma. Richard was in the 19th Combat Engineers from 1940 to 1945. During that time, he was overseas for 34 months in the 2nd Corps, 5th Army in England, Ireland, Scotland, North Africa, Sicily and Italy. Seven battle stars were among the medals he was awarded during his tour of duty. Then later in 2002, he was awarded the Purple Heart 58 years later by Mac Thornberry in a special presentation in Amarillo. After World War II, Richard played the bass fiddle with "The Circle Arrow Boys" and various other bands in the Texas Panhandle. During his music career, he produced his own records and his last accomplishment was a CD entitled, "Again at Twilight Time." In addition to his many musical performances, he also published five music books which have been sold all over the world.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Brown Hendrickson and Gladys Irene Tabor; three sisters, Geneva Hadaller, Ruby Palmer Klawitter and Pauline Coleman; and two brothers, Bob Hendrickson and Ronnie Tabor.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Glenna Hendrickson-Amerman and husband, Rodney, of Borger and Mona Hendrickson-Fannon and husband, Lyn, of Fritch; a son, Dan Hendrickson and wife, Glenda, of Abilene; three brothers, Jack Tabor of Perryton, Tom Hendrickson of Yuma, Ariz., and Bill Hendrickson of Eugene, Ore.; 10 grandchildren, Shane Henderson, Shawn Henderson, Rodney Amerman II, Joshua Jacob Amerman, Clint Hendrickson, Christina Haskell, Audrey Clow, John Hendrickson, Monica Fannon and Lance Fannon; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the granddaughters.

The family will be at 307 Loma Linda in Borger.

Obituary for Glenna
Glenna June Blackburn Hendrickson, 85, of Abilene, formerly of Phillips and Fritch, went to be with her Savior, January 6, 2014, surrounded by her family.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 11, at Fairlanes Baptist Church in Borger with Pastor Paul Burwash officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Cemetery in Borger. Arrangements are by Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors in Borger where family visitation will be Friday, January 10, from 6– 8 p.m. The family will be at 307 Loma Linda in Borger.

Glenna June Blackburn Hendrickson was born August 6, 1928 in Seminole County at Bowlegs, Oklahoma to Dewey Ray Blackburn and Lovie Jewell Davis Blackburn. At the early age of six, she lost her father, and helped her mother take care of the other children in the home. She spoke many times about standing on a stool to help wash dishes and pack lunches for the other children. Because of her high academic abilities in school, she was awarded a scholarship to Oklahoma State University.

After graduating as valedictorian, she married the senior class president, Richard Harry Hendrickson on May 27, 1946, in Cherryvale, Kansas. Shortly after, she began her entrepreneurial adventure becoming the owner of June's cafe in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She was not only chief chef, but also handled the business and accounting side of the business.

After her husband, Richard, obtained employment at Phillips Petroleum Company, they made their home in Phillips, Texas where all three of their children graduated from Phillips High School. Later they moved to Fritch, Texas in 1986. During the many years, June was very active in her churches, Kiefer Baptist Church, Eastside Baptist Church, Phillips Baptist Church, and was a charter member of Fairlanes Baptist Church. She also served her Lord by serving as a Sunday School teacher to many children in the community. Because of her many Christian teachings, she brought all three of her children to know the Lord.

Having an interest in business, June attended Frank Phillips College majoring in Accounting. She worked as office manager for Kel-tex Electric and was also the business manager for her husband's music business, R. H. Hendrickson Publications and Productions. However, her most enjoyable job was being "Memaw" to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was also well known for her sewing and cooking. Her children were treated by her ability to make most of their clothes. Friends and relatives always delighted in eating her delicious cooking, especially her pies. She also loved taking pictures and traveling with her family on many vacations to include 24 states, Canada, and Cancun, Mexico for her 70th birthday trip with her daughters, Glenna and Mona. She also enjoyed visiting her family in Oklahoma.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Harry Hendrickson; parents; two brothers, Kenneth Blackburn and Bob Blackburn of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; many special brother and sister-in-laws; and two nephews.

Survivors include two daughters, Glenna Amerman of Borger and Mona Fannon and her husband, Lyn, of Fritch; one son, Dan Hendrickson and his wife, Glenda, of Abilene; grandchildren include Shane Henderson and his wife Amy, Shawn Henderson and his wife Susanna, Josh Amerman and his wife Ashley, Clint Hendrickson and his wife Allyson, Christina Haskell and her husband Mike, Audrey Munson and her husband Chris, John Hendrickson and his wife Cassie, Monica Fannon, and Lance Fannon and his wife, Allison. Also survivors include two sisters, Joyce Steavenson of Kiefer, Oklahoma and Beth Gober of Irving, Texas; two brothers, Paul Rusher and his wife Nita of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; and Loren Rusher and his wife Becky of Losantville, Indiana. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.
