Obituary for Leon
Services for Leon Thomas Hess, 47, of 1516 Gawain will begin at 10 a.m. Monday in the Gardner St. Church of Christ with Billy Jones of Groom officiating.

Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park direction of Minton Mortuary.

Hess, an employee of the Phillips Petroleum Company transportation department, died at 9 p.m. Friday in Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo.

Hess was born March 14, 1927, in Kelton and had been a resident of Borger for 29 years. He was a veteran of World War II after serving with the U.S. Marines and was a member of the Church of Christ at Juniper and Franklin Streets.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of the home; a son, Tom of El Paso; a daughter, Kathy of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Lavelle Webster of Erick, Okla., and Mrs. Janelle Norman of Oklahoma City; one brother, Thurman of Dumas, and his mother, Mrs. W.C. Hess of Borger.

Casketbearers will be E.C. Barnett, Laurencio Garduno, George Breen, Buck Howard, Hugh McGinnis and Thurman Sanders. Honorary casketbearers will be members of Phillips Truck Fleet No. 12.

Betty Louise Wilson passed from this life on Jan. 28, 2016. She was born on Feb. 27, 1932, in Carson County, TX and was a longtime resident of Borger, TX. Betty was also a longtime member of the Franklin Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, F.D. and Lucille Lucas; sister, Anita Hunter; and two loving husbands, Leon T. Hess and Richard Wilson. Betty is survived by her son, Tom Hess; daughter, Kathy England and husband Byron; grandchildren, Casey England and wife Mika, Matthew England and wife Jennifer, Kelsi Hess and fiance Keith Folding, Ryan England and fiancee Marissa Wolf; and great-grandson, Cooper England. Visitation will be held 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at Baggerley Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at the Baggerley Funeral Home Chapel. An additional Visitation will be held at Minton-Chatwell Funeral Home in Borger, TX, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, with interment to follow at 2 p.m. at Westlawn Cemetery in Borger, TX.
