Mr. Hopkins served with the 82nd Airborne during World War II, becoming a prisoner of war at Hammerstein, Germany.

BORGER - Jack W. Hopkins, 85, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Riverview Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Gillmore officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Mr. Hopkins served with the 82nd Airborne during World War II, becoming a prisoner of war at Hammerstein, Germany. He worked for Phillips Petroleum as a mechanic for 33 years.
Survivors include his wife, Rhodean; two sons, Glenn of Oxford, Miss., and Jim of Borger; a stepson, Robert Moody of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Pat Renick of Irving and Marilyn Slaybaugh of Las Vegas; a sister, Norma Chadwick of Odessa; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
