Bill Kirkham, 67, of Cross Plains died Monday, June 28, 2004 at a local hospital. Services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, July 1, 2004 at First Baptist Church in Cross Plains with Ronnie White officiating. Burial will be at the Atwell Cemetery in Callahan County, Texas.
On November 30, 1936 Bill was born in Cross Cut to James Albert Kirkham and Iva Ora (Eldrod) Kirkham. He went to Cross Plains Elementary and graduated in 1955 from Cross Plains High School. He married Glena Rae Pillans on June 30, 1956 at First Baptist Church in Cross Plains. They then moved to Odessa, Andrews, Big Spring, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and various other places where he worked in the oil fields. He and his beloved Glena returned in May of 2003 to make their home once again in Cross Plains. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Bill is survived by his son, Charles W. Kirkham of Austin; daughter, Ronda Buchanan of Oklahoma City, OK, three brothers, Bob Kirkham and family, Cliff Kirkham and family both of Cross Plains, Rick Kirkham and family of Hamilton; sister, Bonnie Davis and family of Abilene; five grandchildren, Chelsea Breeden, Britten Alexander, Jeremy Rice, Jessica Rice and Kaylin Kirkham as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
His beloved wife, Glena preceded him in death in January of this year.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 130, Cross Plains, Texas 76443 or American Cancer Society, Callahan Unit, 300 W. 9th, Baird, Texas 79504- 3419. The family will receive friends and relatives, Wednesday, June 30, 2004 from 5 -7 p.m. for a time of visitation at Higginbotham Funeral Home.
