Hugh L. Jackson Jr., died September 25, 2012 in Amarillo.

Hugh was born, March 19, 1924 in Bartlesville, OK to Esther and Hugh Jackson.He graduated from Phillips High School as president of the class of 1942 and a member of Who's Who. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII was trained and commissioned as a Naval Aviator. He graduated as an Engineer from Texas Tech University. During his time at Tech, he played on the conference championship football team.

After graduation from college, he worked for Phillips for thirty-five years, during which time he managed the Borger Philblack Plant and the Philtex Plant and was also the operations manager at the fertilizer plant in Dumas.

He served on a number of boards in the Borger area including the Borger School Board, Frank Phillips College Board of Regents. He chaired the Dumas Rotary Club and the Pantex Federal Credit Union Board. He also served on the Hutchinson County Jr. Livestock board and the Board of City Development as well as other civic organizations.

His passions included racehorses and along with his father, his son and his brother won many races in several states on a number of racetracks.

Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Kay Gipson and his wife of 60 years Joan in 2011.

His dedication was to his family; his wife Joan who preceded him in death, and those surviving him; his son Dick Jackson and wife Jackie of Purcell, OK, his daughter Cindy Head and husband Jim of Borger his brother Dick Jackson of Guymon, OK, his grandchildren Dan Jackson, Staci Campbell, Lance Head and Chase Head and eight great grandchildren.
