Will Appreciate Some Clothing
Last Friday afternoon our staunch friend, J. H. Hall, a substantial farmer in the Prospect community, was a pleasant caller at The Herald office in the interest of Mrs. Halpain, whose husband committed suicide Tuesday. She with her seven small children, Mr. Hall says are very needy and are worthy people in his community and that any contributions in the way of shoes, clothing etc., will be appreciated. He asks us to say that anyone desiring to contribute, please leave same at The Herald or Enterprise office, or with Mr. Jeff Kemp, and that they will be called for and appreciated.
The Herald deeply sympathizes with the sorrow-stricken family in the untimely death of the husband and father, and we assure Mr. Hall that The Herald will assist these worthy people.

Lee Halpain Committed Suicide
Justice of Peace Gunn was called Tuesday morning to the old Whitten place, about seven miles northeast of town to hold an inquest over the remains of Lee Halpain, a farmer, who had committed suicide that morning about 5:00 o'clock, by drinking carbolic acid.
From evidence adduced it seems that the unfortunate man had become despondent over his financial affairs and decided to end his troubles. He arose at 5 o'clock, drank the acid then returned to bed, where in a few minutes his wife found him in agony. He only lived about fifteen minutes, during which time he told his wife what he had done and why.
Decedent was 37 years of age and leaves a wife and seven small children in destitute circumstances. He left neither property nor life insurance. The body was buried at Prospect cemetery Wednesday. - Rockdale Reporter.
