Obituary for Betty
Betty Kaylor
August 13, 1934 - August 25, 2018

Betty Kaylor, our much loved Mama and Granny, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Born August 13, 1934, in Weinert, Texas, to Clinton Meredith Price and Susannah Inez Young Price. She married Melvin Kaylor in 1951 in Lubbock, Texas. They were married 60 years before his death in 2011.

Betty was a housewife and a crafter extraordinaire. An accomplished seamstress, she made clothing for herself and her family as well as making her daughter-in-law’s wedding dress. In fact, she sewed the first ever Borger Bulldog mascot costume. She was able to recreate any style by putting several patterns together. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She took tole painting classes and enjoyed that. Whatever the current trend was, you could be sure she tried it.

A longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church, she taught children’s Sunday School for many years and held various positions with the WMU. She served as church treasurer for a number of years as well as serving on many committees there. She was a very involved member of the PTA when her children were young. She served as a den mother in the Cub Scouts and as a Girl Scout leader. One of her biggest delights was decorating her house for each and every holiday on the calendar. She dearly loved visits from her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. News of them always brought huge smiles to her face.

She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters; and a brother.

She is survived by her son, Melvin Kaylor, Jr. and his wife Jeanie; her daughter, Roxanna Blakely and her husband Steve; grandson, Brad Kaylor and his wife Lydia; granddaughters, Meredith Sarchet and her husband Brandon, Kristin Winegar and her husband Chris; great grandchildren, Kaylor, Charlie, Ellie and Maggie Sarchet, Roman and Haddon Winegar, Adrian and wife Gabby Alvarez, Jackie Alvarez and fiancé Marcus Ortiz; and two great-great granddaughters, Bella and Andriela Alvarez.

Funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Borger with Rev. Judy Brandt and Rev. Dr. Jerry Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
