Obituary for Jerrie
BORGER - Jerrie C. Keith, 94, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, in Amarillo.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Hensley, pastor of Bunavista Baptist Church, officiating, Eulogists will be Phillip Howard, Marshall Keith, Jeffrey Keith and Dale Keith. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Keith was born Aug. 11, 1913, in Young County. He was owner of Jerrie Keith Co. He married Jewel Rawlings on May 17, 1933, in Clovis, N.M. He was a former mayor of Borger, city commissioner and member of the Rotary Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel on June 22, 1987; five brothers, Bruce, E.L., George, Virgil and Raymond; two sisters, Muriel Royall and Buna Fullwood.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry B. Keith and wife Mary Ann of Amarillo and Dale Keith and wife Cleta of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Virginia Howard of Escondido, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Howard, Marshall Keith, Jeffrey Keith, Bill Willard, Paul Robinson and Joe Janeway. Honorary bearers will be the Deacon Body at First Baptist Church.

The family suggests memorial be to a favorite charity.

Obituary for Jewel
An active civic and business leader, Mrs. Jewel Keith, 75, died Monday in her home at 316 Baylor Street.

Services are pending with Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Keith, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Rawlings, pioneer residents, has been active in civic and business affairs for a long time.

She was born in Stoy, Illinois, and had been a Borger resident for 60 years.

She married Jerrie Keith in 1933 and has assisted her husband with his plumbing and heating business since 1938. She was vice president and secretary of Jerrie Keith Co., Inc.

Throughout the years, she gave leadership in her church, the First Baptist Church, and she was a teacher of the Grace Sunday School Class.

A history buff, she was a lifetime member of the Panhandle-Plains Historical Society. She served on the Hutchinson County Historical Society for many years, making a great effort toward establishing the museum.

She was president of Borger Music Club and the District I president of the Texas Federation of Music Clubs. She was a member of the Borger Barbershop Belles, a singing group.

Mrs. Keith was also a member of the Twentieth Century Club, Collectors Club, Women of Rotary, American Business Women's Association, the Borger Christian Women, and Paragon Club.

She is survived by her husband, Jerrie; two sons, Jerry Keith of Dumas and Dale Keith of Huntington, Calif.; one daughter, Virginia Howard of Borger; three brothers, Marshall Rawlings of Dumas, Howard Rawlings of Borger, Rex Rawlings of Fallon, Nev., 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
