Obituary
John Wesley LaGrone, Jr.
March 29, 1922 - March 10, 2011
John LaGrone, Jr., 88, died Thursday, March 10, 2011 in Borger. Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at 1st Southern Baptist Church in Fritch with Rev. Calvin Winters, Pastor officiating. Interment is at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.
Mr. LaGrone was born on March 29, 1922 in Rogers, Texas and had been a Borger resident since 1944. He married Shirley Mason Ashcroft on February 14, 1943 in Temple, Texas. He served in the US Army in the 2nd Division Field Artillery and retired from Phillips Petroleum as a maintenance supervisor after 40 years. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Fritch and the Unity Masonic Lodge. He loved to garden, read, fish and hunt and he loved his bird dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Alice LaGrone, Sr., and his brother Billy Dan LaGrone.
He is survived by his wife Shirley LaGrone of the Home, son – John Wesley LaGrone III and wife Jan of Borger, grandchild – Ella Anne LaGrone of Seattle, WA.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at 1st Southern Baptist Church, P. O. Box 358, Fritch, TX 79036.
