SANFORD - Burney Cecil Leonard, 42, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sanford First Baptist Church with Ricky Griffin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Leonard was a native of Lawton, Okla. He graduated from Borger High School in 1978 and married Sherry Amanda Davis on Aug. 11, 1978. He was Mayor of Sanford and coached Special Olympics when the team won third place in state. He worked at Popular Supply and was an operator for Phillips Petroleum. He was a member of Sanford First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sonya LeeAnn Leonard, in 1997.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Shana Leonard of Sanford and Tasha Leonard of Borger; his parents, Dub and Mary Leonard of Borger; a sister, Eunice Lee White of Fritch; six nieces; and two nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to Cancer Society, Lupus Foundation, Borger Special Olympics or other favorite charities.
