FRITCH - Kemett "Slim" Messenger Sr., 76, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Trinity Lutheran Church at Borger with Pastor Robert Kuhlmann officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mr. Messenger was born in Elsey, Mo., and had lived in the Fritch area for 35 years. He worked as a maintenance foreman for Phillips Petroleum Co., at the Philtex Plant, retiring in 1985.

During World War II, he served with the Army Air Corps.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served as a trustee.

He married Dorothea Brinkman in 1944.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kemett C. Messenger Jr. of Ulysses, Kan., and Lance R. Messenger of Borger; two daughters, Gayla Jean Smith of Yukon, Okla., and Patricia Ann Demand of Katy; four sisters, Willie McVey of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Mary McDaniel of Naperville, Ill., Gynith Sossamon of Owasso, Okla., and Marjorie Pettit of Springfield, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 8008 Slide Road, #12 A, Lubbock, TX 79424.

Dorothea Jean Messenger, 81, of Amarillo, formerly of Borger, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mrs. Messenger was born Feb. 13, 1925, in Iola, Kan., to Dorothea L. Rath and John H. Brinkman. She married Kennett C. Messenger on June 11, 1944, in Fort Worth.

Survivors include two daughters, Gayla J. Smith of Yukon, Okla., and Patricia A. Demand of Houston; two sons, Kennett C. Messenger Jr. of Amarillo and Lance R. Messenger of Borger; a brother, Sidney E. Brinkman of Wichita, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Trinity Lutheran Church, 212 W. Jefferson, Borger, TX 79007 or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 120 Wall St., 19th Floor, New York City, NY 10005.
