DORLLYN APPELT, age 51 of Alvin, Texas went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Methodist St. John's Hospital Nassau Bay, Texas. Dorllyn was born on October 18, 1962 in Texas City, Texas, attended Santa Fe ISD, then made her home in Alvin, TX.. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Alvin, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and taught C.C.E.

Dorllyn’s calling was teaching children and she treated every child as her own. She was a professional member of Alpha Delta Kappa, the Texas Teacher Retirement Association, and UHCL Alumni Association. Her career began at Mark Twain in 1997, where she was Teacher of the Year for the school year 2007-2008. She has taught grades ranging from PreK to Second Grade, in which she served as First Grade Level Chairman for many years. Dorllyn momentarily left teaching in 2008 to fight breast cancer. The next chapter in her career was at Stevenson, where she served as Math Coordinator, in addition to her teaching assignment.

Dorllyn was preceded in death by her parents, Bea and Margaret Brantley, and brother in law Donnie Gosch. Dorllyn is survived by her husband, Gary Appelt, daughter, Amber Rab and husband Elvin, son Brandon Appelt, sisters, Faith Gosch, Joan Coplin and husband Steve, Lanette Brantley, brother, Michael Brantley, 3 grandchildren, Aiden Gary Appelt, Payton Rab and Damien Rab along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Friday, August 29, 2014 at Scott Funeral Home with a Rosary service recited at 7:30 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 30, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Confederate Cemetery Alvin, Texas.

A gathering will be held at Joe’s Banquet Center following the funeral for those who would like to join.
