Funeral services for Charley Benton Israel, 58, of Friona will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cactus Drive Church of Christ in Levelland with Curtis Israel of Friona officiating.
Burial will be in the City of Levelland Cemetery in Levelland by Blackwell Funeral Home in Friona. Viewing will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. He died Thursday, Nov. 11, at Parmer County Community Hospital in Friona after a short illness. Benton was born Aug. 14, 1946, in Levelland to Charley and Mary Lee (Herrington) Israel. Benton lived in Levelland until March 1980 when he moved to Prairie Acres Nursing Home in Friona. He was preceded in death by his parents and also by a brother, Dale Israel, in 1992. Survivors include two brothers, Curtis Israel and wife Marynell of Friona and Chester Israel and wife Sherry of Levelland; two sisters, Margaret Wallace and husband Jim of Levelland and Charlene Hogue of Levelland. The family suggests memorials to Prairie Acres Nursing Home in honor of the countless kindnesses and tender care given to Ben by his family there or to Parmer County Community Hospital.
