James M. "Jim" Ormsby, 86, who died July 10, 2012 in Plainview was born in Gorman, TX to William and Addie Ormsby March 25, 1926. He graduated from Gorman High School and signed up in the U. S. Marines to fight in World War II. When he returned he went to Texas A & M University where he graduated in 1950 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business. Jim married Laura Brandon December 31, 1954 in Decatur, TX. He started work with Phillips Petroleum Co. in 1950 where he eventually became the Director of Human Resources for the Southwest Region. He worked in Bartlesville, OK, London, England and Borger during his 33 years with the company. Jim was a Charter Member of the Borger Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and also served as President of the Chamber for 3 years. He was a board member of Panhandle Bank and Trust, 1st Savings and Loan, the Hutchinson County Airport Board, Frank Phillips Board of Development, a member of the Phillips Lions Club and the Borger Rotary Club.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Laura of Amarillo, his son Mike Ormsby and wife Teresa of Borger, his 2 daughters; June Armstrong of Amarillo and Linda Bible of San Angelo, TX, 2 Sisters; Lugean Esten of Mesquite, TX and Minnie Stacy of Lewisville, TX, 8 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren.

Laura Ormsby, 89. passed away on November 27, 2020 at her home in Amarillo. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Bobby Wilson officiating. Graveside service will be at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Laura was born October 15, 1931 in Rosston, TX to Rastus B. Brandon and Fannie Mae Wilson Brandon. She married Jim Ormsby on December 31, 1954 in Decatur, TX and he preceded her in death in 2012. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Borger and was a seamstress, gardener and bargain hunter. Laura loved her grandkids and great grandkids, spoiling them whenever she could and was a very generous person.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, her sister Eva Adcock and her two brothers Herbert Brandon and JY Brandon.
Laura is survived by her son Mike Ormsby and his wife Teresa of Borger, her two daughters June Armstrong and her husband Michael of Amarillo and Linda Bible and her husband E. J. of Buchanan Dam, TX, her sister Orene Hooten of Florida and her sister-in-law Agnes Brandon of Sanger, TX and her eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
