LEVELLAND (Special) Funeral services for Johnnie Keen, 70, of Levelland will be at 10 a.m. Friday at College Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Cotton, pastor, and the Rev. Merle Fulmer of Lubbock officiating.

Burial will be in City of Levelland Cemetery under the direction of Geo C. Price Funeral Directors.

He died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000. He was born June 10, 1929, in Pettit and had been a resident of Levelland and Hockley County all of his life. He farmed in the Pettit community for several years before retiring.

He was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and taught the friendship Sunday school class for 30 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He also was a member of South Plains College board of regents for 24 years, and he served on the board of directors for South Plains Telephone. He was a member of the Pettit school board, the Hockley County school board and the Pettit Co-op Gin board.

He was a graduate of Pettit High School.

He married Avis Ward on Oct. 17, 1951, in Clovis, N.M.

Survivors include his wife; son, Terry Lynn Keen; three daughters, Margaret Boggs of Levelland, Jeanne Keen of Midland and Donna Bass of Amarillo; and eight grandchildren.
